You have been using theMarketer for a while. Your list has grown, you would like a loyalty program or tracking for ads, and you wonder whether it is worth staying or moving. Before you change platforms, find out exactly what you are missing and what it costs to have it.
theMarketer is a good Romanian platform for online stores, with email, SMS, push, pop-ups, RFM analysis and reviews. Below you will find five alternatives, each with what you gain and what you lose compared with theMarketer. Prices and features come from the vendors' websites. We checked them on 12 October 2026.
What theMarketer does well
It is fair to start here, so you do not lose something in the move:
- Free plan: Basic, up to 1,000 contacts, without SMS, push and automations (theMarketer pricing).
- Templates: over 700 ready-made email templates, by industry.
- Integrations: besides Shopify, WooCommerce, MerchantPro and Gomag, it connects with Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, CS Cart and vTex (theMarketer integrations).
- Loyalty: points, tiers, rewards and referral, in the Ecommerce PRO plan.
- Channels: SMS and web push notifications, which you can also put in automations. SMS credits are bought separately, from €10.
- Reports: real-time site visitors, list growth and a comparison with the industry average, so you can see where you stand against other stores.
If your store is on Magento or PrestaShop, moving is harder: many of the alternatives have no public integration for these platforms.
Why stores look for an alternative
Three things, all from the theMarketer website, that can make you look for something else:
- Features sit in different plans. On the theMarketer pricing page, abandoned cart, product recommendations and RFM analysis are in Ecommerce, not in Standard. Loyalty and reviews are only in Ecommerce PRO, which costs €147 a month at 1,000 contacts and €267 at 10,000, excluding VAT.
- The price at your list size. Ecommerce costs €25 at 1,000 contacts, €107 at 10,000 and €387 at 50,000, per month, excluding VAT.
- The advertising side. We found no public information on themarketer.com about server-side tracking or product feeds for Google, Meta and TikTok. The feed it lists brings your catalog into theMarketer, for emails.
1. Aopy
What you gain: in the same account you have emails, automations, SMS through SMSO, pop-ups, RFM analysis and reviews, plus the advertising side: server-side tracking for Meta, TikTok and GA4, product feeds for Google, Meta and TikTok, AI-made creatives and audiences sent to Meta and TikTok. Emails are unlimited in every paid plan.
What you lose: the free plan, the more than 700 templates and the integrations with Magento, CS Cart and vTex. The loyalty program and web push notifications are still launching at Aopy.
Price: €20 at 1,000 contacts, €86 at 10,000 and €310 at 50,000, per month, excluding VAT.
The full comparison, row by row, is on the Aopy vs theMarketer page.
2. NewsMAN
What you gain: a lower price. The paid plan costs €5 a month at 1,000 contacts, €40 at 10,000 and €150 at 50,000, excluding VAT, with unlimited emails (NewsMAN pricing). You also get WhatsApp, an SMTP server and dedicated IPs. It connects with Shopify, WooCommerce, MerchantPro, Gomag, Magento, PrestaShop and OpenCart.
What you lose: we found no RFM analysis, loyalty program, server-side tracking or ad feeds on the NewsMAN website.
Details in Aopy vs NewsMAN.
3. Klaviyo
What you gain: over 350 integrations, WhatsApp, RCS, push in the mobile app and predictions about the customer, such as lifetime value and churn risk (Klaviyo features). It works well if you sell in several countries.
What you lose: Gomag and MerchantPro do not appear on their integrations page. The price is in dollars: the Email plan costs $30 at 1,000 active profiles, $150 at 10,000 and $720 at 50,000, with a monthly email cap (Klaviyo pricing). Audiences for ads are in the Social marketing module, paid separately.
Details in Aopy vs Klaviyo.
4. Omnisend
What you gain: an email and SMS platform designed for e-commerce, with a free plan for 250 contacts and 500 emails a month. The Pro plan has unlimited emails (Omnisend plans).
What you lose: SMS is not available in Standard for new subscriptions, only as an add-on in Pro. The price is in dollars: Standard from $16 a month, Pro from $59, and for your list size you find it in the calculator on the pricing page. Before you move, check whether it has an integration with your store's platform.
5. Mailchimp
What you gain: an interface many people know, automations in the paid plans and prices shown in euros in Europe: Essentials from €11.68 a month, Standard from €17.97 (Mailchimp pricing).
What you lose: emails have a monthly cap, 10 to 15 times the number of contacts, depending on the plan. SMS is a paid add-on, only in certain countries (plan comparison). Check the integration with your store's platform here too.
How to move without losing customers
A move made in a hurry costs you orders. The steps to follow, wherever you move:
- Export the contacts together with their consent. You need the date and source of the subscription, so you can prove the agreement. Do not import contacts who unsubscribed or bounced.
- Authenticate the sending domain. Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC for the new platform before the first campaign.
- Rebuild the automations before you turn off the old ones. Abandoned cart and the welcome email run continuously. If you stop them for two weeks, you lose the orders they bring.
- Start with active customers. The first campaigns from the new domain go to those who opened or bought recently, then you grow gradually.
- Keep both accounts for a month. You compare results and have time to download the old reports.
What to ask the new vendor before you sign
A few short questions, answered in writing:
- Does it bring the order history too? Without the old orders, segments based on what the customer bought start from zero.
- Where is the data stored, and do you have a processing agreement? For GDPR, you need a data processing agreement with the vendor.
- What happens if you exceed the contact threshold? Some platforms move you automatically to the next tier, others stop sending.
- What language is support in? It matters when something does not work on the day of the Black Friday campaign.
- What period are you committing to? Monthly or annual, and how you exit the contract.
Write the answers next to the price at your number of contacts. Only then compare.
In short
- You want the same kind of platform, cheaper: NewsMAN.
- You want emails and ads in the same account: Aopy.
- You sell in several countries and have the budget: Klaviyo.
- You want to start free, with a small list: Omnisend or Mailchimp.
- You are on Magento or PrestaShop: check the integration before anything else; theMarketer, NewsMAN and Klaviyo have public integrations.

About Aopy
Aopy is built by the team behind Clinica de Marketing, which has worked in e-commerce since 2016. We built Aopy so that emails, SMS, feeds and ad tracking live in the same account. Aopy connects with Shopify, WooCommerce, MerchantPro and Gomag. The plans are on the pricing page.
